My mother is over for a few days, so we shall spend time wandering around charity shops, antique and ephemera fairs and so on! We both love looking for and finding treasures. As it is her birthday, I rustled up a little handmade gift to slip in among her 'big' and 'proper' presents. I really must improve my sewing skills though, as this needle folder looks like it was made by someone with 10 thumbs! I used felt for the cover, and a leftover scrap from WeeWonderfuls stash (what she sent me to make my BackTack)
Talking of scraps, we had a 'grand opening' last night. All these envelopes had arrived from all over the world, as part of the fabric swap Mecozy had organised.
My mother makes miniature quilts (seriously small!), so she loved all the scraps with tiny flowers and tiny dots and ... well, anything with a tiny print really. I selected a wide range of cute scraps, like these:
But there is absolutely tons of it! 13 participans with a minimum of 16 scraps, and some sent more than that - so we are looking at over 200 scraps! So we even - out of the kindness of our hearts - selected a pile for my sister (who makes things doll and doll house related). So I had better get creative, like Redcurrent who has made fabric cards and patchwork bags with hers, and Friendbunny made some cushions, and I expect there are other creations emerging all over blogland.
I was also RAOKD by Divaknitting and by Knitchic, thanks bloggers! I now have the starter kit with these fab cards to Raok others:
Erm, wasn't this supposed to be a knitting blog? Branching Out is on its 7th repeat... I'll keep you posted!

what fun stuff! I love all of those scraps! and those new cards are very cute ;)

The needle folder turned out quite cute--I'm sure your mom will like it and get use out of it. The fabric swap looks like fun, I look forward to seeing what you use the scraps for!
