A box of buttons and Back-Tack parcel
We went to an auction last night, as The Other Knitter in the House fell in love with a complete service (breakfast, tea, coffee, dinner). Don't get me wrong, I love it too, but feel rather tired at the thought of re-arranging our minute kitchen cupboards to fit it all in. Because, we were succesful!
No idea what the final item count is, but there is tons to unpack! This is a close up of the pattern, produced by Johnson Brothers - and it is very seasonal!:
I was quietly knitting whilst the auctioneer went through the lots, and suddenly heard him say: 'Victorian box full of buttons'. My hand lept up, and - although I generally don't recommend buying sight unseen - I came home with this:
Quite a nice mix, on first inspection there are a few old lovelies to be found in there:
For those who want to see what I am sending my Back-Tack partner, this is how it all looked before it went in the box:
If you want a sneeky peek, click HERE.... but take care, if you are participating, it might spoil your surprise!

The Other Knitter obviously has great taste. I've never seen that pattern before, but it's really lovely. And, as you say, very seasonal. (The wind has just blown a pile of leaves into my study via the open window.)

What kind of auction was it you went to? That box of buttons is too cool! Lucky you! :)

Oooohh, so lovely... the dishes and the buttons. Never been to an auction; I can hardly handle the stress of Ebay bidding!

Wow! Those buttons are just out of this world. Well done for winning the bidding!

I love the service, the pattern is lovely! But then, I have a thing for china - it gets stored everywhere around here. What with the books and the plates and bowls and cups and tea pots stored everywhere it's a miracle that D and I still find space in our home to sit down anywhere. ;-)
The box of buttons is a really lucky find as well. Looks like there are some real gems in there, and the box looks rather pretty too!

TOK great a great haul... but I'm thrilled with the box o' buttons. I have such fond memories of searching through my grandmother's button box and uncovering wonderful treasures there. Enjoy your discoveries!

lawks that's some good stash. The buttons would give my sis the heebie jeebies tho'. She HATES buttons, particularly loose in boxes like that, dunno why. I love them, she doesn't mind beads though, curious non?
